“Twenty-six years, aquamarine eyes, and the voice of an angel.” Jamie Craig is the sort of singer-songwriter that approaches every note and every word with the curiosity of a child and the introspection of an old soul. Proficient on both piano and guitar, Jamie enhances the sweet melodies in her songs with a vulnerability and strength that is reminiscent of Jewel, Sade, and Adele. For as long as she can remember, Jamie has been in love with sounds, melodies, and the crafting of songs. Since the age of 13, Jamie Craig has performed at open mics, local theaters and school productions. In 2007, Jamie’s exceptional gift became undeniable when she won Atlantic Idol, her high school’s adaptation of American Idol. In addition, her song “Waiting” was featured on Hoot/Wisdom Recordings Compowlation Album Volume 2 in 2012. Her YouTube channel has received over one hundred thousand views and she continues to write and perform in the South Florida area. In 2014, Jamie won the iTunes Music Festival Competition for her original song “Blue” and traveled to London’s iTunes Music Festival.
Jamie released her self-titled debut EP in May of 2014, which exemplified Jamie’s path to her music and herself as an artist. With this project, Jamie fused the “pop” sound with a variety of Indie-Folk, Rock, and Country influences in order to conceive the human condition in a manner that is true to herself and her exploratory spirit. Jamie describes this EP as a collection of memoirs about relationships; “relationships with yourself, with friends, with lovers, and with something bigger than all of that.”
In addition to her love of songwriting, Jamie also composes music for film, television, and visual images. She believes in the power of mixing the two mediums to convey a message and understands its potential to change and inspire. In 2013, Jamie was recognized by the National League of American Pen Women, who awarded her a scholarship and membership to their organization.
True to her adventurous and determined heart, Jamie is loving the journey and is at the same time clear on where she wants to go. To Jamie, music is something that is meant to be shared with others, and nothing excites her more than her live performances and writing songs. Currently Jamie’s new music project Indigo Dreamers are touring in the South Florida area. They are also busy finishing up their first full length album, which will be released in late 2017.
